Teden Mengi made his loaner debut with Derby County at the weekend.
The 18-year-old came on in the 86th minute to help Wayne Rooney’s side beat Middlesbrough 2-1 at home.
This was the first league appearance of the Manchester United loaner in his career.
Mengi’s only other taste of pro action came last August in the Europa League for 10 minutes against LASK. This was his first domestic appearance.
The young center-back was loaned to Derby in late January. For him this is just the beginning.
Laird and Garner impress again
Elsewhere, Ethan Laird and James Garner are on loan, both of whom started out for their clubs.
Laird played 81 minutes for MK Dons in a 1-0 away win over Hull City and created two chances along the way.
Garner played every 90 minutes as Nottingham Forest won a 0-0 draw against newly promoted Bournemouth.
The United midfielder made two key passes, won two tackles and made three interceptions. For all three, he took the highest place on his team.
He outplayed Bournemouth’s Jack Wilshere, who was substituted on after just 28 touches of the ball after 65 minutes.
Disappointment for Pellitri
There was disappointment for Facundo Pellitri, who is still hoping to make his debut for Alaves.
Pellitri was an unused substitute at Barcelona. Alaves used all five submarines and the Uruguayan was not among them. Alaves lost 5-1.
Tahith Chong was absent as the match was postponed by Club Bruges, as was Di’Shon Bernard while Salford was absent.
