Remember when the Kansas City Chiefs were always near the top of any Super Bowl odds list? In recent years, the Chiefs had to be considered among the top picks to lift the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season. Not anymore.
Andy Reid’s club entered the 2021-22 season as favorites to win it all, rated at +500 on several odds. After Sunday’s crushing 27-3 loss to Tennessee, the Chiefs are tied with the Broncos for last place in the AFC West at 3-4.
If you think the mighty Patrick Mahomes can somehow turn the tide – even with a defense that ranks 28th – and win the title, go ahead and knock them down at +1400.
With the Chiefs no longer among the top contenders, here’s a look at the top of the Super Bowl LVI odds chart at DraftKings.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+550)
It’s amazing how good Tom Brady stays at the age of 44. Even with Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski on the sidelines again on Sunday, Brady set up a clinic against the Bears with four touchdown passes, including career number 600. The Bucs rose slightly after starting. the season to +600.
Buffalo tickets (+550)
Buffalo’s path to the playoffs is made easier when you consider the relative strength of its Divisional enemies. Having the chance to play twice against the Jets, Dolphins and Patriots gives the Bills a definite advantage. The Bills lead the AFC East at 4-2, as shooter Josh Allen continues to become one of the league’s best quarterbacks.
LA Rams (+800)
The Fighting McVays had the biggest trade of the offseason last year with the addition of Matthew Stafford. Everyone knew about Stafford’s immense talent, but his career results got bogged down and mired in Detroit’s mediocrity. For the first time, the veteran QB has a legitimate chance of winning a Super Bowl ring.
Arizona Cardinals (+900)
It’s hard to argue with unbeaten for seven weeks. As the league’s only unbeaten team, Arizona host Green Bay in a monster NFC game on Thursday night. The schedule then softens with the 49ers and Panthers on deck.
Green Bay Packers (+1200)
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have taken professional victories over the past two weeks (scoring just 24 points each). Showcasing one of the more balanced offenses in the NFL, Green Bay will be downright creepy if / when it finds other equipment. The talented trio of Rodgers, WR Davante Adams and RB Aaron Jones rank among the best in the league.
Baltimore Ravens (+1200)
Humiliated by the Bengals on Sunday, the Ravens still deserve to be considered 12-1. It’s a week-to-week league, and a bad loss is just that.
Dallas Cowboys (+1400)
Dallas comes out of a pass and feels good about himself at 6-1. This offense ranks first in the NFL in yards (460.8) and points (34.2) per game. The Cowboys had +3500 before the start of the NFL season with their only loss of the season to Tampa Bay.
One to watch
Titans of Tennessee (+ 1800)
Considering what they did to the Chiefs on Sunday, and after a huge win over Buffalo the week before, the Titans are up on that odds table. Tennessee was +4,000 last week after starting the season at +3,000.
